Call for Papers

"Philosophy and the Challenges to the Humanities, Social
Sciences and Globalization: Islam, China and the West"

The sponsors of this conference and its program committee
invite all scholars regardless of national origin, societal
beliefs and orientation to participate in its panels. The
only presupposition of the organizers of this meeting
consists in a belief in (a) the worthiness of intercultural
dialogues and (b) the pursuit of excellence in scholarship.
Topics covered focus on theoretical and philosophical
understanding of leadership, decision ethics, and
methodology in higher education and world classics.

- Philosophy and the dialogue among East, Islam, and the
  West
- Philosophy and the intercultural conflict
- Philosophy and theories that established nations
- Philosophy and the claims of liberty and democracy
- Philosophy and terms promoted by the West but had not been
  applied to the East
- Philosophy: its role in Imperial Hegemony
- Man in Eastern thought and Western thought
- Islamic mysticism and peace

All submissions must be performed electronically at the
website of the conference series.

Please note that the full text of all papers based on
accepted abstracts are to be submitted in advance and will
be posted and accessible to all registered participants of
the conference shortly before, during, and one month after
the conference. Abstracts will be published on this site and
including in the printed conference program. Authors of
papers and presentations will be required to sign a release
allowing the conference organizers to record their
contributions to the conference for later use via the
website.

The prepublication of conference papers with restricted
access shall stimulate research exchanges before and after
the conference. All presenters need to be registered at the
conference. The conference languages are Arabic and English
and all submissions (including additional information) must
be in either of the two languages.

Submission of abstracts

Your ABSTRACT should be around 500 words and must not
contain any self-references, in order to facilitate blind
review.

Please submit together with your abstract a short BIOGRAPHY
of about 200 words for each author of the paper, written in
third-person form ("She is professor..." rather than "I am
professor...").

The abstract will be reviewed within 4-6 weeks by 2 or 3
experts in the area. Authors of accepted abstracts are then
requested to submit the full text of their papers for
prepublication on the conference book and website
(accessible to all and only participants of the conference).

Deadline for submission of abstracts: March 20, 2008
Notification of acceptance: April 20, 2008
Full paper submission: June 15, 2008

Conference publications

Select papers of the conference on these topics will be
reviewed for publication in the new Mansura Global Studies
in Comparative Philosophy (Arab Republic of Egypt, USA and
People’s Republic of China).
