Call for Applications 2 Junior Fellowships (Post-Doc) in Cultural Sciences Institute for Advanced Study, University of Konstanz Konstanz (Germany) __________________________________________________ The Center of Excellence Cultural Foundations of Integration offers an organizational framework for research in Kulturwissenschaften at the University of Konstanz. As part of Germanys state and federal excellence initiative, it will be sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (the main German foundation for academic research), initially until October 2011. The Center represents an effort to draft a pathbreaking model of research in the humanities and social sciences. It is meant to create an environment for intensive cooperative research without losing sight of the special characteristics of individualized scholarship. Beginning on a foundation of empirical research into the phenomena of social integration and disintegration, ranging across individual periods and including all social strata, we hope to endow the concept of culture with renewed incisiveness and an important role in new theoretical reflections. The following post-doctoral fellowships are open in the Center: 2 Junior Fellowships (Post-Doc) in the Institute for Advanced Study in Konstanz Fellowship period: 12 months beginning October 2008 Each year the Institute for Advanced Study in Konstanz welcomes 20 scholars from various disciplines who are working on the theme of integration. The applications should have a direct relation to one of the Centers four research fields (cultures of identity, narrative theory as cultural theory, trans-cultural hierarchies, and the cultural dynamics of religion) or else be tied to the core theme for 2008-09, hegemonial semantics and radical counter-narratives. Applicants should have received their doctoral degrees, and residency will be required.
