Call for Papers "Media in a Fast Changing World" International Conference Petra Christian University Kuta, Bali (Indonesia) 7-9 May 2009 __________________________________________________ Media in today's world has undoubtedly become a significant part of human everyday life. There have been many complex and varied stories on how the media forces around us cause rapid changes in our world as it is witnessing a freer and faster flow of information. In this globalized world, media have made a breakthrough in the nexus of various human cultures. This condition has offered great deal of contributions in promoting world businesses, political agendas, various popular cultures, as well as individual performances. On the other hand, practices in the contemporary media have also brought about a paradoxical situation in which media control us as much as we do them. Petra Christian University is determined to take the initiative of gathering scholars, intellectuals, students, and media practitioners to discuss how media operates in a fast-changing world.
