Call for Papers "Diversity in Philosophy" 5th Annual S.W.A.P. Graduate Student Conference Society for Women's Advancement in Philosophy ((S.W.A.P.) Florida State University Tallahassee, FL (USA) 20-21 March 2009 __________________________________________________ The Society for Women's Advancement in Philosophy is planning their fifth Annual conference and seeking paper submissions from graduate students suitable for a 30-minute presentation (3500-4000 words). Collaborative panel proposals will also be considered. We encourage submissions on any branch of philosophy Applied to issues of race, sexuality, gender, and related topics or capable of informing discussion within these areas. Radical philosophy is welcome. Location of Conference: Florida State University (Tallahassee, FL). Conference Dates: Friday and Saturday, March 20th and 21st, 2009. Submission Deadline (which has been extended): January 12, 2009. Keynote Speakers: (1) Louise Antony: Professor of Philosophy, University of Massachusetts - Amherst. (2) Marilyn Friedman: Professor of Philosophy, Washington University - St. Louis. Submission guidelines for papers: Include complete paper, abstract (up to 150 words), and cover sheet. All paper submissions are blind-reviewed so there should be no author-identifying information in the text of the paper. Include author's name, contact information, and title of paper in the text of e-mail or separately attached cover sheet. Submission guidelines for panel proposals: Panel proposals should include a topic title, a 250-word (maximum) abstract from each participant as well as a 250-word (maximum) statement that explains the importance and relevance of the panel. In a separate document include a list of confirmed participants along with their affiliations. Email submissions, proposals, or questions to: [email protected].
