Hamilton, NY (USA)

Colgate University’s 30-year old, interdisciplinary Peace
and Conflict Studies Program [P-CON] seeks to appoint a
one-year postdoctoral scholar in Peace and Conflict Studies.
The P-CON Program focuses on reflexive and critical analyses
of peace and conflict. We encourage applications from
candidates whose own research examines particular
regional/historical conflicts or transnational dimensions of
conflict, as well as the general intellectual frameworks
developed to explain them. Applications from candidates in
the Social Sciences and the Humanities will be considered.

The Colgate P-CON Postdoctoral Scholar will teach one course
in P-CON each semester, share their research work with the
community, and actively participate in and contribute to the
program’s active events calendar. Applicants should have
received their Ph.D. no earlier than 2006; persons holding
tenure-track appointments are not eligible to apply. Ph.D.
candidates must have degree in hand by the time of
appointment. This position carries an annual salary of
$42,000 with full benefits and some research or travel
support; there is a possibility of renewal for a second
year.

Colgate University is an AA/EOE institution and women and
minorities are encouraged to apply. Developing and
sustaining a diverse faculty, staff, and student body
further the university's educational mission. Please submit
an application letter and supporting materials (CV, three
recommendation letters, and sample of written work not to
exceed 20 pages; cover letter should indicate what research
or writing the candidate will be engaged in while at
Colgate) as soon as possible to Daniel B. Monk. Review of
applications will begin on Feb 6, 2009.
