"TRANSNATIONAL CAPITALISM, IDENTITY, AND IMMIGRATION"

Open to scholars from all disciplines, this RPA-sponsored
conference is being hosted by University of the Western
Cape, an historically Black South African university near
Cape Town. The intent is to inform and help U.S. students
and academics better understand the issues of globalization
on Africa.

The conference is divided into four parts:
- A formal conference at the university of the western cape
  (5 days)
- An educational component involving visits to South African
  NGOs
- Excursions to social and political organizations and
  cultural events
- A volunteer component (4 days)

We invite you to propose a paper to present at the
Conference (encouraged but optional for participation).
South African organizers will make every effort to pair your
paper with one on a similar topic by a South African
scholar. Topics are wide open and inclusive, but we are
especially interested in receiving papers in the following
areas:

- Refugees & Migration
- Hip Hop & Culture
- Immigration & Homelessness
- Global Labor Exploitation
- Global Critical Race Theory
