"The Value of Difference"
2010 Uehiro Cross Currents Philosophy Conference

The Uehiro CrossCurrents Philosophy Conference is dedicated to
showcasing exceptional work by graduate and advanced undergraduate
students in comparative philosophy broadly construed (not limited to
East-West comparisons). We welcome the submission of papers of high
quality in any area of philosophy. Papers of a comparative nature are
of particular interest. However often comparative panels include
papers addressing a common issue from the perspective of alternative
traditions.

Email papers to <[email protected]>. Papers should be suitable for a
20-minute presentation. In the body of the email include:

* Author name
* Title of the paper
* Institutional Affiliation
* Contact information (email, phone number, mailing address)

Send papers as an attachment in word format with no identifying
information for blind review.
Paper Submission Deadline: January 5, 2010.
Notification of acceptance will be sent by January 18, 2010.

Low cost accommodations are available for presenters and attendees.

Speakers:

Dr. Chung-ying Cheng
Professor UH-Mānoa, founder and editor of the Journal of Chinese
Philosophy and founding president of the International Society of
Chinese Philosophy

Dr. Peter Hershock
Asian Studies Development Program, East-West Center, research scholar
at the intersection between living Buddhist philosophy and
contemporary values

Dr. Suwanna Satha-anand
Professor and Former Chair of the Philosophy Department at
Chulalongkorn University (Thailand) specializing in the engagement of
Buddhist philosophy with contemporary issues such as human rights,
women's studies, and peace.
