The School of Philosophy, University of Tasmania, and the Australian
Phenomenology and Hermeneutics Association (APHA) are jointly
sponsoring a two-day colloquium in Hobart on April 30th and May 1st,
2010.

'Thinking the World in the 21st Century' will feature keynote
addresses by Prof. Peg Birmingham (DePaul University, Chicago, USA)
and Prof. David Wood (Vanderbilt University, Nashville, USA).
Currently Prof. Birmingham, whose research focuses upon political
philosophy, ethics, and feminist theory, is working on a project
titled 'A Lying World Order: Deception as a Philosophical and
Political Problem'. Prof. Wood, whose research ranges from
continental philosophy to ecology to art and creativity,is working on
'Things at the Edge of the World'.

'World', then, relates their thought, and 'world' is the theme around
which this colloquium is gathered. With this as the rather open
background, we are seeking contributions with a worldly bent: they
may be steeped in phenomenology or graced with the lightest of
hermeneutic touches. They might take the shape of a standard
conference paper, or be entirely creative. Together we hope to create
a collegial,challenging, and inspiring colloquium.

Please email your 250-500 word abstract by February 15th to:
