Conference Announcement "Minority and Indigenous Rights: Emerging Themes and Challenges" 2nd Annual Network Conference UK Network on Minority Groups and Human Rights Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London London (United Kingdom) 18-19 November 2010 __________________________________________________ The UK Network on Minority Groups and Human Rights was established in May 2009 to provide a specialist interdisciplinary forum for scholars working in the area of minority and indigenous rights to meet and discuss new developments, focusing in particular on the development of links between early career and more established researchers working in this area. The second annual network event will be held at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies on 18-19 November 2010. This event is being sponsored by the Human Rights Consortium, School of Advanced Study and Brunel Law School. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Alexandra Xanthaki “Do International Law Standards Encourage Multicultural Policies?” Plenary sessions: - The Internationalisation of Minority and Indigenous Rights: Overarching Themes - Transnational Mobilisation and International Spaces Parallel sessions: - Internationalisation of Minority and Indigenous Rights: Case Studies - Religious and ‘new’ minorities - The impact of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and legal institutions and indigenous claims Venue: Institute of Commonwealth Studies, Senate House, University of London, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU, UK Registration Fee: £20 (this will cover refreshments and lunch on the Friday) Please note that places are limited, so early registration is recommended.
