Call for Papers "Human Rights and Ethics" 6th International Conference on Human Rights Center for Human Rights Studies, Mofid University Qom (Iran) 11-13 May 2011 __________________________________________________ The establishment of an ethics-based order in human society and the internalization of ethical values are among the great aims of the prophets and other right-minded people. This makes possible the happy life that is the ideal of all nations and cultures. In the scriptures, wisdom literature and historical-civilizational heritage of humanity, an emphasis has been put on the necessity of a full-scale effort to achieve this great aim. Human rights discourse with its ethical presuppositions and international instruments also has this goal in front of it. The fundamental position of ethics for all areas of human life and its unique role in the guidance for human beings and in the resolution of different dilemmas as well as its connection with human rights thought encouraged the Center for Human Rights Studies (CHRS) of Mofid University to hold its sixth biennial international conference on human rights under the title of “Human Rights and Ethics” to provide an academic forum for scholars and researchers from all over the world to share their ideas, experience and knowledge in this regard. Interested scholars are cordially invited to submit their papers on one of the following or other related sub-topics: 1) Ethical Foundations of Human Rights - Ethical Evaluation of Human Rights Rules - Human Rights & Absolute or Relative Ethics - Human Rights, Universal Ethics & Ethical Values of Religions 2) Human Rights, Ethics & Sharia - Position of Ethics in Interaction between Human Rights & Sharia - Sharia, Sanction of Ethics & Human Rights - Ethical System‐Making Based on the Scriptures & Human Rights 3) Human Rights, Ethics & State - Human Rights, Ethics & Democracy - Human Rights, Ethical Society & Good Governance - Human Rights, Ethics & Different Types of State 4) Human Rights, Contemporary Challenges & Ethical Solutions - Human Rights & Bioethics - Human Rights & Environmental Ethics - Human Rights, Global Trade & Ethical Values - Human Rights, Extreme Poverty & Ethical Solutions - Human Rights, Ethical Interaction & Social Co‐Existence - Human Rights, Ethics & Family Authors are requested to email a 250-word abstract in Microsoft Word format (in English, Persian or Arabic) to the Center by 6 December 2010, including the title, author's name, postal and e-mail addresses as well as telephone and/or fax numbers. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Board of Referees of the Conference and then the authors of the accepted abstracts will be requested to email their papers (at most 5000 words) by 21 January 2011 for final review. Therefore, the acceptance of an abstract does not imply the acceptance of the paper. Papers must be exclusively prepared for this conference, not having been submitted for any other conferences or previously published. The accepted papers will be presented during the conference either by poster or by presentation. CHRS will be pleased to provide the authors of the accepted papers with the accommodation and meals during the conference as well as transportation from Imam Khomeini International Airport to Qom and return.
