University Assistant (post doc)
at the Department of Philosophy

is vacant.

The advertised position is situated in the Department of Philosophy
in the Faculty of Philosophy and Education. The Department is large
(by international comparison) and its members have a considerable
variety of areas of competence. This motivates both the duty to offer
a teaching programme that spans the full breadth of the discipline,
and the intention to satisfy high standards of research performance.
The Department attaches great value to the core areas of philosophy,
but it also has the aim to contribute, on their basis, to the
clarification and solution of current problems. The intention to
acknowledge new philosophical developments and tasks is reflected in
the number of co-operations and research fields of the department.

Degree of Employment: 40 hours/week

Areas of work:
The successful candidate will actively collaborate in research,
teaching and administration at the Institute of Philosophy in the
field of Intercultural Philosophy and Non-European Traditions.
Associated with this field is Univ.-Prof. Dr. Georg Stenger’s
professorship of Philosophy in a Global World including the following
areas of work:
- Methodological basis, regarding mostly systematic and historic
  problems, especially in the context of intercultural philosophy
- Phenomenology, hermeneutics, transcendental philosophy, ontology,
  methaphysics and critique of metaphysics
- Philosophies of the 20th century and present
- Philosophy of culture and theory of culture
- Reflections of theory and terminology of a future world-society
  mainly regarding: Theory of dialogue, international understanding,
  theory of democracy, human rights
- Intercultural and global dimensions of aesthetics and ethics
- Commitment to interdisciplinary work
The main task of this position will be to produce a work of
Habilitation ready for publishing within the field respectively foci
of research mentioned above. Please add a description of this project

Profile:
Your profile: Ph.D. of philosophy passed with excellence
- publications and research talks in at least one of the areas listed
  above, preferrably in intercultural context
- Adequate teaching experience
- Basic knowledge of a non-European language, preferrably in Chinese
  or Japanese
- Organisational skills and team-spirit
- Willingness to acquire good command of German within three years
  sufficient to hold classes for Bachelor and Master students and
  contributions to the boards of university

- one sample of your dissertation,
- list of publications and research talks,
- description of your Habilitation project;
- two published articles,
- two letters of recommendation
