Call for Publications Theme: Globalization Publication: Interdisciplinary Edited Volume Deadline: 30.11.2011 __________________________________________________ Globalization is a widespread and very fashionable term today. As Richard Barnet and John Cavanagh stated in 1994 it is so portentous and wonderfully patient as to puzzle "Alice in Wonderland" and thrill the Red Queen because it means precisely whatever the user says it means. In the last years, there was an enormous increase of publications about the topic of globalization. A lot of books literally overstocked the field of research. Many of them helped extending our view on the complex phenomenon. But the huge amount of publications also made it increasingly difficult to find an explication for the ample term. It more and more became intangible for us. Despite the enormous opulence of globalization literature, even today, there is less possibility for graduate students to publish their works, although they could often gain very important insights in the phenomenon during their research on their doctoral projects. The planned publication has three goals. Firstly it seeks to support the process of making the globalization term more tangible for interested people. Secondly it wants to show the profound state of knowledge of doctoral students of the field of globalization research. It thirdly seeks to bring together globalization researchers-to-be from many disciplines and to support the exchange of ideas among them. We therefore encourage doctoral students of all fields of research to submit papers that are addressed to the field of globalization research. For the volume will be published bilingually, papers can be submitted in either German or English. The planned publication is divided in two areas. In the first part, we want to publish theoretical approaches helping to explain the phenomenon. The second part is reserved for practical case studies offering the readers an insight in how the process works in a specific case. Scholars interested in participating in that publication process should submit their proposals (a short description of their paper) until November 30th 2011 to: [email protected] Philipp Strobl Lecturer of the Austrian-Cooperation University of Economics in Bratislava __________________________________________________ InterPhil List Administration: http://interphil.polylog.org Intercultural Philosophy Calendar: http://cal.polylog.org __________________________________________________
