The Cogut Center for the Humanities at Brown University invites
applications for a two-year Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral
Fellowship in Critical Global Humanities. We seek a candidate of
exceptional achievement and promise in any field, period, or
discipline of the humanities, with the intellectual flexibility to
engage in interdisciplinary and cross-cultural study and dialogue, as
well as a strong commitment to the critical analysis of the
humanities in the contexts of globalization and the globalizing
university. Scholarly interest in one or more Cogut Center program
foci, including Humanities and Science, Humanities and Arts, Medical
Humanities, and Religion and Internationalism, is welcome but not
required.

The successful candidate will teach two Humanities (HMAN) courses per 
year, most likely one at the undergraduate and one at the graduate 
level. S/he will also participate in the weekly Cogut Center fellows 
seminar and in other programs of both the Cogut Center and relevant 
departments. Ph.D. must be in hand by 1 July 2012 and must have been 
awarded by an institution other than Brown University in the previous 
five years. Stipend will be U.S.$52,000 and $54,080 in the first and 
second years respectively, plus benefits and a research budget of 
$2,000 per academic year.
