Call for Publications Theme: The Promise of Liberation Philosophy Publication: Analytic Teaching and Philosophical Praxis Date: Vol. 33 (Spring 2013) Deadline: 1.10.2012 __________________________________________________ The journal of Analytic Teaching and Philosophical Praxis (formerly Analytic Teaching) seeks article submissions that explore the transformative potential of Liberation Philosophy. Liberation philosophy continues to challenge the place and purpose of traditional philosophy, altering in a radical way the very praxis of philosophy as a discipline and way of life. Coming to fruition out of the struggles in Latin America against the cultural imperialism of the West, liberation philosophy provides another model for understanding and enacting the call of wisdom. This CFP is in conjunction with the conference on Bartolomé de Las Casas to be held Oct. 12-13, 2012 at Viterbo University, and seeks to expand the purview of the conference into the larger domains of liberation philosophy and liberation theology. AT&PP is interested in essays that explore the continuing relevance of liberation philosophy in the fields of education, politics, theology and ethics. Possible topics for consideration include but are not limited to: - the challenge of liberation philosophy - liberation philosophy and/or liberation theology and the environment - philosophy for children and liberation philosophy - the difference between liberation philosophy and liberation theology - liberation philosophy and social movements in Latin America - the relationship between critical theory/phenomenology and liberation philosophy - the analysis of a specific thinker in the area of liberation philosophy (e.g. Dussel or Freire) - how is liberation theology/liberation philosophy embodied in artworks or other cultural practices - how is liberation philosophy pertinent to the U.S. experience - what is the relationship between liberation philosophy and American (Anglo-analytic) philosophy Articles can be submitted in either English, or Spanish or Portuguese. Direct submissions to: Dr. Jason J. Howard, Chief Editor, Analytic Teaching and Philosophical Praxis, Viterbo University, e-mail: [email protected]. Submissions should follow a standardized reference format (APA or MLA, people using Chicago Manual of Style should format references as endnotes). Articles should be approximately 4000-8000 words, e-mailed as a word document or RTF, and prepared for 'blind-review' (with author's name and institutional affiliation appearing on a separate page). The deadline for article submissions is Oct 1, 2012. Accepted articles should appear in Vol. 33 of Analytic Teaching and Philosophical Praxis in spring of 2013.
