This National Essay Competition is on the theme of "The Search for
Peace".
THE THEME
The world longs for peace. Peace is achievable, yet, in today’s
scenario, it seems elusive. Why? Have we become so inefficient that
we humans cannot have peace? Is it such a distant dream? What is
peace? Peace is NOT a mere absence of war. It is something positive.
It is the presence of contentment, prosperity, happiness etc.. An
in-depth understanding of peace is what is essential today and hence
this endeavour by us: The search for peace. Peace is not the monopoly
of any particular discipline, hence this competition is kept open to
all academic fields.
TIMELINE
01 October 2014: End of Registration
15 October 2014: Last date of Receiving the Essay
30 October 2014: Announcement of the Results on the Library Website
22 December 2014: Prize Distribution at the Library Day Function in
Chennai
PRIZES
There are two categories of prizes:
1. Graduates (3 Prizes): First prize -Rs 5000, Second prize-Rs 2500,
Third prize-Rs 1500
2. Postgraduates & Research Scholars (3 Prizes): First prize- Rs
6000, Second prize- Rs 3000, Third prize- Rs 2000
The PRIZE winners will be invited to participate in the KOLVENBACH
LIBRARY DAY CELEBRATIONS on 22 December 2014 (Monday) at 7pm, on
Satya Nilayam Campus.
Travel by train (3 tier AC) would be reimbursed. Accommodation would
also be taken care of.
ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open only for Indians.
Graduate/Postgraduate/Research Scholar of any recognized institute.
Age Limit: 40 or below
ENTRY FEE
Rs 100 only for Graduates
Rs 200 only for Postgraduates and Research Scholars
(Entry fee is non-refundable)
