The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Conference welcomes a wide
range of streams and workshops about the complex relationship between
equality, diversity and inclusion from different theoretical,
empirical and methodological angles as well as across various
trans/inter/national and disciplinary contexts.

In 2015, we wish to draw particular attention to the problem of
identity, to the various conceptions and misconceptions, to the
enactment of identity by individuals, groups and out-groups; to the
modes of construction, the borders, the stability as well as the
evolutions, the homogeneity as well as the heterogeneities which are
thus attributed to them. Those underlie the relations they maintain:
power/privilege/hierarchy/equality; inclusion/ exclusion;
solidarity/individualism; competition /cooperation…. And also the way
in which the humans: workers, consumers, citizens, migrants… are
treated, looked after, managed, controlled, trained. On which
conceptions are institutions, laws, norms, standards, methods built?
With which effects? What transformations are possible?

However, the focus on identity presented here is not intended to pose
limits for stream themes and approaches. You are invited to submit
stream and workshop proposals under the theme of the conference as
well as outside this theme, within the broad remit of the EDI
conference.

Streams are designed in a traditional academic format, whereas
workshops are more open to unconventional and informal procedures.

There will be a doctoral colloquium under the supervision of Dr Joana
Vassilopoulou and Dr Kate Sang parallel to the conference (contact:
[email protected]).

Information on deadlines and mode of submission will be available on
the EDI website.

Stream organizers are also advised that the book series Equality,
Diversity and Inclusion at Work (Book series by Emerald) headed by
Professor Mustafa Özbilgin is associated to the conference and
relevant stream proposals will be eligible for this book series
subject to acceptance decision by professor Özbilgin who will attend
the conference.

Deadlines for stream and workshop proposals

Stream and workshop proposals should be sent to Prof Julienne Brabet
(contact: [email protected]) no later than November 1, 2014.
Decisions regarding streams/workshops and launch of call for papers:
November 25, 2014; the call for papers will be circulated thereafter.
