The Doctoral Program in Buddhist Studies at
Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München is pleased to announce a call
for papers for “Yogācāra Buddhism in Context: Approaches to Yogācāra
Philosophy throughout Ages and Cultures,” to be held on June 19-20,
2015 in Munich, Germany, with keynote addresses by Prof. em. Lambert
Schmithausen (Hamburg) and Prof. Nobuyoshi Yamabe (Tokyo).

Since its growth out of Indian Buddhist thought and practice in the
first centuries of the Common Era, the philosophy of the school of
Yogācāra Buddhism has undergone numerous developments and
transformations. These include formations in India as well as later
interpretations, e.g. in China, Tibet or Japan, that reflect
distinctive characteristics of the specific cultural context.

This workshop is designed to be a platform to give scholars working
in the field of Yogācāra studies the opportunity to present their
academic research and to facilitate fruitful exchanges among them.
Eight selected PhD students and postdocs will be invited to present
their current projects and to put them up for discussion within this
special focus.

Abstract submission deadline:
31 December 2014

1–2 pages (in English) and a curriculum vitae via e-mail (PDF format)

Notification of acceptance:
31 January 2015

Final paper submission deadline:
30 April 2015

The workshop language is English.

While it is of course preferred that expenses for attendees are
funded by their home institutions, travel funding is available for
some attendees and will be awarded based on need and merit.
