Call for Publications Theme: Resignifying the Third Space Location: Edited Essay Collection Deadline: 28.2.2015 __________________________________________________ We are now seeking for a collection of essays on the reinterpretation of the concept of Third Space in relation to the ‘spatial turn’ within the frame of the social science and the humanities in Feminist and/or Gender Studies. Spaces can be approached through transnational studies, critical geography, post-colonial insights, among other fields. We are especially interested in research carried out in Europe – even though focused on extraeuropean issues – or on European studies. Themes to be discussed may include: - A new colonial order within Europe itself; power geometries and inequalities - Diasporic movements within Europe - Human trafficking and border crossing - How globalization and/or global capitalism has transformed into a reality in Europe (mapping the diaspora, maps of exploitation, maps of resistance, trash workers, labour markets, processes of bordering...) - Phisical feminist spaces within the academy. Do they resist? Are they being dismantled? In which sense they can be seen as a creative third space? - Spaces of power (spatialised social power, gendered power, politics of power) - Cartography of spaces / simultaneity of spaces - Literary spaces - Visionary spaces / liberatory spaces Enquiries and a 300 hundred word abstract plus bibliography in English should be submitted by e-mail to Silvia Caporale-Bizzini, University of Alicante ([email protected]) and Biljana Kasic, University of Zadar ([email protected] and [email protected]) by the 28th of February 2015. Selected abstracts will be communicated by the end of March 2015. Final essays will be submitted by the 30th of October 2015.
