Conference Announcement Theme: Minority Rights, Global Institutions, and Cultural Justice Type: International Workshop Institution: Department of Philosophy, University of Tromsø Location: Tromsø (Norway) Date: 9.–10.4.2015 __________________________________________________ Pluralism, Democracy, and Justice (PDJ) research group organizes a workshop on Minority Rights, Global Institutions, and Cultural Justice at the Department of Philosophy, UiT The Arctic University of Norway Thu-Fri 9th-10th April 2015 Venue: University of Tromsø, TEO-H1 1.325 This workshop discusses the current practices, challenges and future prospects of minority rights in the globalized world. It looks into the justificatory frameworks of different kinds of differentiated rights, and assesses the role of various institutional actors in the protection of the rights of minorities, and minorities within minorities, in the global contexts. The workshop aims to identify some of the key challenges brought forth by the new, multi-layered and multi-faceted world order, and to look for avenues forward in re-conceptualizing and re-framing the minority rights-debates in the globalized world.
