This edited volume seeks to examine the ways in which democracies in
the Global South must contend with political identities and
substantive citizenship (citizen as capacity) in the twenty-first
century.

This volume seeks to address how social justice is pursued in
developing democracies having to address patterns of power,
oppression/exploitation and discrimination alongside embedded
patterns of supremacy and privilege.

The volume also seeks to look at the role of political participation
in engineering radical democracy and economic democracy in the Global
South. Critical theoretical perspectives are especially welcomed.
