Paul Ricœur is one of the most distinguished philosophers of the 21st
century. Concerned with philosophical anthropology and “the capable
human being,” he engaged the capabilities, without ignoring the
vulnerabilities, that human beings display in the social activities
that make up their ordinary and authentic lives. In celebration of
his tenth death anniversary, this international conference focuses on
Ricœur’s oeuvre and its relationship to politics, society, and
religion, particularly in Asia. Interpreting Ricœur from these
multicultural, plural, and diverse perspectives allows us to work for
global collaboration, solidarity, and unity.
