The Centre for the Study of Global Ethics (CSGE) at Birmingham is
pleased to announce its next annual conference, on the theme of
humanitarian ethics and action (broadly construed).

As in previous years, the conference will feature both invited
keynote speakers, speakers selected from a Call For Papers, and a
public lecture.

Keynote Speakers:

Cecile Fabre (Oxford)
Hugo Slim (ICRC)
​Helen Frowe (Stockholm)

Public Lecture by:
Leif Wenar (KCL)

We invite abstracts of 500 words for papers suitable for presentation
in 20 minutes. Deadline for submissions is 1st March 2017. All
abstracts will be blind reviewed, so please do ensure that all
identifying information is removed.

To submit your abstract, please send (i) the anonymised abstract
in .doc or .pdf format, and (ii) a separate document containing
author information (name, paper title, email address, affiliation) to:

- The ethics of philanthropy
- Humanitarian intervention
- Development ethics
- The morality of sanctions and coercive measures
- Global distributive justice
- Partiality and its limits
- Poverty alleviation and priority setting
- Ethics and International Humanitarian Law (IHL)
- Paternalism and respect for agency
- War and conflict
- The responsibilities of aid workers and NGOs
- Public health ethics
- Effective altruism and its critics
- Responsibilities towards refugees
