Call for Applications Type: Postdoctoral Fellowships on the Formation of Normative Orders Institution: Cluster of Excellence "Normative Orders", Goethe University Frankfurt Location: Frankfurt/Main (Germany) Date: 2017–2018 Deadline: 7.8.2017 __________________________________________________ (Deutsche Version unten) The Cluster of Excellence “Normative Orders” of Goethe University Frankfurt commencing 1 November 2017 is awarding 10 postdoctoral fellowships (E 13 TV-G-U) with a maximum duration of 14 months and ending at the latest on 31 December 2018. The value of the fellowships and allowances is determined in accordance with the guidelines of the DFG. With a thematic focus on the dynamics and crises of normative orders, the research of the Cluster of Excellence deals with current conflicts over a just world order and their historical genesis from the perspectives of a variety of disciplines in the humanities and the social sciences (philosophy, history, political science and legal studies, anthropology, economics, religious studies, media studies and sociology). We are seeking highly qualified researchers from the above-mentioned disciplines to strengthen the interdisciplinary research network with research projects during the year following the second funding period. The research projects are intended to be short-term projects which can be processed and completed within the 14-month timeframe. The advertisement is addressed to applicants whose research and the corresponding planned short-term projects lie within the scope of the following focal topics: 1) criticism and crisis, in particular theories of social criticism, crisis theories, analyses of the media and of the performative dimension of criticism 2) pluralism, secularism and demarcations within societies, in particular historical and present-day religious conflicts, state neutrality and social integration, crisis of the constitutional state 3) crises of transnational orders, with a particular reference to international law, supranational organizations and criticism thereof, migration, theories of global (in)justice Prerequisites for a successful application are an outstanding dissertation and the outline of a relevant research project on the stated topic areas and issues. In addition to the usual documents (curriculum vitae, list of publications, official confirmation of the receipt of the doctorate), a three-page outline of the research project to be worked on with research objectives and a timetable should be submitted. Die Forschungsprojekte sind als Kurzprojekte durchzuführen, die in der Stellenlaufzeit von bis zu 14 Monaten bearbeitet und zum Abschluss gebracht werden können. Die Ausschreibung richtet sich an Bewerberinnen und Bewerber, deren Forschung und entsprechend die anvisierten Kurzprojekte in folgenden Themenschwerpunkten angesiedelt sind: 1) Kritik und Krise, insbesondere Theorien der Gesellschaftskritik, Krisentheorien, Analysen der Medien und der performativen Dimension von Kritik 2) Pluralismus, Säkularismus und innergesellschaftliche Abgrenzungen, insbesondere historische und aktuelle Religionskonflikte, staatliche Neutralität und gesellschaftliche Integration, Krise des Rechtsstaats 3) Krisen transnationaler Ordnungen, insbesondere mit Bezug auf internationales Recht, supranationale Organisationen und ihre Kritik, Migration, Theorien globaler (Un-)Gerechtigkeit Voraussetzung für eine erfolgreiche Bewerbung sind eine herausragende Dissertation und der Entwurf eines einschlägigen Forschungsprojekts zu den umrissenen Themenfeldern und Fragestellungen.
