"Open Philosophy" (http://www.degruyter.com/view/j/opphil) invites
submissions for the topical issue "Objects Across the Traditions",
edited by Tom Sparrow (Slippery Rock University).

The aim of this topical issue is to showcase the myriad perspectives
on objects that appear across the philosophical traditions and,
especially, to encourage dialogue between these traditions. The
question “What is an object?” is raised by analytic metaphysicians,
object-oriented thinkers trained in the continental tradition,
process philosophers, and pragmatists, among others. But too often
the researchers working in these respective traditions are not
drawing upon the same philosophical literature, so their research
advances in isolation, running the risk of redundancy. Assuming there
is value in drawing upon and synthesizing these disparate
literatures, and that bridging the sub-disciplines in philosophy can
provoke new thinking and surprising innovations, we aim to provide a
forum for work that exemplifies the desire for an integrative
approach to objects. The spirit of this topical issue is integrative
and comparative, then, but it is not exclusively committed to
accepting submissions only of this type.

Among the topics we seek to explore are:

- What is an object?;
- Intersections and divergences in the philosophy of objects;
- Practical applications of object-oriented thinking;
- The tension between process-ontological & substance-ontological
  approaches to objects;
- Comparative approaches to objects;
- The politics of objects;
- Histories of the philosophy of objects.

Authors publishing their articles in the special issue will benefit
from:

- transparent, comprehensive and fast peer review,
- efficient route to fast-track publication and full advantage of De
  Gruyter's e-technology,
- free language assistance for authors from non-English speaking
  regions,
- no publishing fees.
