This three-day conference intends to explore and contest the way in
which the classical Greek world inspired and influenced Jewish
thinkers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Scholars are invited to
examine this diverse contact and the fertile pollination of ideas
that have been since produced. The conference hopes to unveil
creative collisions, collusions, tensions, and contentions that are
both reconcilable and irreconcilable in their display and
disentanglement.

Papers from a wide variety of disciplines and methods of scholarship
are encouraged. Scholars working in diverse and multifaceted fields
such as philosophy, theology, classical studies, sociology, political
science, cultural studies, literature, film studies, aesthetics, and
visual arts are welcome to submit their abstracts. The following
list — which is by no means exhaustive or exclusive — contains some of
the themes the conference intends to address:

- knowledge of God and nature
- the sacred and the profane
- monotheism and polytheism
- presence and absence
- identity and difference
- Eros and divine love
- ethics and prudence
- justice and law
- paideia and sociopolitical renewal
- Greek polis and the modern Jewish state
- topos and utopia
