Call for Papers Theme: Husserl in Japan Subtitle: Global Studies in Philosophy and Religion Type: International Conference Institution: Shizuoka University University of Nebraska at Omaha Location: Suruga-ku, Shizuoka (Japan) Date: 30.–31.5.2019 Deadline: 1.2.2019 __________________________________________________ The committee on the international conference on Husserl in Japan: Global Studies in Philosophy and Religion (May 30-31, 2019), is pleased to announce the opening of the call for papers for presentation at a conference taking place at Shizuoka University in Japan at the foot of Mt. Fuji. Full papers should be received by February 1, 2019 together with an abstract. All papers and abstracts are double-blind refereed. Please send as electronic submission to the committee chair, Dr Curtis Hutt: [email protected] All papers (max. 6,000 words, including references) must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another conference or journal. We accept submissions in English. The conference volume will appear in Spring 2021. All those whose papers have been accepted will have their entire expenses in Japan covered. Airfare will not be covered. Timetable Deadline for abstract submissions (max. 1000 words) and papers (max. 6000 words): February 1, 2019 Notification of acceptance: March 1, 2019 Conference Dates: May 30 and 31, 2019 with an excursion on June 1, 2019 Submission Details You are most cordially invited to send a paper and its abstract for presentation at the upcoming international conference on Husserl, Philosophy, and Religion. This conference, sponsored by Schwalb Center and others the University of Nebraska at Omaha in partnership with Shizouka University, will take place at the foot of Mt. Fuji on May 30 and 31, 2019. As a speaker, all your expenses in town, including a 4-night hotel stay, meals and the 1-day excursion of the beautiful Izu peninsula on June 1 as well as the one-hour bullet train Shinkasen round trip expenses from Tokyo to Shizuoka will be covered. Prof. Dermot Moran (University College Dublin/Boston College) will be giving the keynote. All proposals related to global Husserl Studies will be considered. Suggested topics include but are not restricted to developments in Husserl’s thought on genetic/transcendental phenomenology, intentionality, and intersubjectivity; Husserl and his students; Husserl and the anthropology of religion; Husserl in Japan; Husserl and Judaism; Husserl and Holocaust; Husserl and Zen Studies; Husserl and Africana Philosophy.
