The next issue of Postcolonial Interventions will focus on the theme
of Postcolonial Justice. Within the realm of postcolonial studies,
‘justice’ obviously remains a major concern as it encapsulates not
only the material and discursive injustice meted out by the colonial
order but also the ongoing travails of the postcolonial nation-states
which continue to be fractured by considerations of class, caste,
gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, religion, migration and so on.
Significantly, justice does not only operate as a juridical concept
but also as something that traverses the realms of politics,
economics, ethics, spirituality, ecology, human relationships
straddling the domain of both the private and the public spheres
(including the academia) and the production of knowledge in general.
As Bartels et al (2017) remark, “The notion of postcolonial justice
underscores the ongoing importance of critique in the trajectory of
Edward Said’s Orientalism and Culture and Imperialism which
investigates how literatures, film, art, music, even architecture…
perpetuate narratives of Self and Other which entrench legal,
epistemic, political and social injustices”. Such a critique must not
only take into account a diverse number of perspectives but follow an
interventionist engagement with present and future that aims at
holistic equity with dignity.

Postcolonial Interventions invites papers that would focus on such a
multidimensional notion of justice as represented through diverse
cultural forms born out of the matrices of present and past struggles.
