Theme

In the mid-1980s, along with the strong influence of globalization on
the development of human society a large-scale research on
globalization became popular in the academic world throughout all
continents in such fields as socio-economics, politics, education,
culture, etc. In fact, the study of globalization has been
“globalization” itself. In his book The Consequences of Modernity,
Antony Giddens, a British sociologist, puts forward a view that the
fundamental consequence of modernity is globalization. Giddens’ view
provides a new perspective to study and analyze the development of
human society. Modernity refers to the mode of social life or social
organization, which, internally, have been changing the most familiar
and personal fields in our daily life, and, externally, have
established social contacts across the globe.

Modernity is a process of the development of human society. It is a
spiritual force to promote the transformation of traditional society
to modern society. It is undeniable that modernity not only promotes
the development and transformation of human society, but also raises
many challenges for individuals, political parties, society and
humanity as a whole. How to solve our common problems faced by all
human beings? How to find a better way of global governance? How to
build a community of shared future for our humankind? The discussion
of these issues can help think deeply about the current trend of
"anti-globalization" and look for universal principles of social
development. The theme of this conference will provide a platform for
scholars from all over the world to study the above-mentioned issues
and to promote the harmonious development of human society.

The following are some subthemes:

1. Modernization and Modernity
2. Globalization and Global Governance
3. Diversity of Human Civilizations
4. Social Development in Diverse Cultures
5. The World Significance of China's Road
6. Construction of a Well-off Society and Chinese Socialist Modern
   Strength
