About the Conference

The signicance of human rights has grown over the centuries and the
post Second World War era witnessed a new dimension in the promotion
and protection of human rights whereby reliance has been placed on a
set of values which are essential for human development. The UNO was
founded in 1945 to reinforce human rights and fundamental freedoms,
and to maintain international peace and security. Recognizing the
signicance of human rights, the UN General Assembly adopted UDHR in
the year 1948. Subsequently, the concept of human rights got impetus
through international human rights documents. With the passage of
time, human rights obtained concrete forms when the nation states
adopted good governance by incorporating them in their constitutions.

Through the initiatives of the UN and with the support of the nation
states, human rights and fundamental freedoms of the individuals have
been well dened through the identication and formulation of the
same at the international and national frameworks. Initially, the
focus was to enumerate the civil and political rights and the social,
economic and cultural rights. The next stage of development of human
rights looked into the problems of vulnerable sections including
women, children, indigenous peoples, etc. and identied the measures
to be adopted for the realization of human rights of these sections.
The third stage witnessed the emergence of right based approach to
development and initiatives of massive human rights education
programme. 21st century has witnessed the emergence of various human
rights issues as a result of the advancement in science and
technology. Above all, the emergence of globalization makes it
imperative for revitalizing the strategies and plan of actions for
the protection and promotion of human rights.

In this background, the Dharmashastra National Law University,
Jabalpur, is organizing a Two Days International Conference on the
Changing Dimensions of Human Rights in a Globalized World.

Call for Papers

Papers for presentation in the International Conference are invited
from academicians, practitioners, researchers, scholars and students
on the issues related to specied themes. The sub themes specied
under each theme are not exhaustive and the researchers are free to
write on any topic related to the theme.

Authors will be given an opportunity to present their papers as per
requirement of the theme during sessions on the days of the
Conference in person. Selected full papers will be published in a
special volume on the Conference in the form of an edited book with
ISBN No.

An abstract of 300–350 words should be uploaded through the google
form at: https://forms.gle/gXxovNAxibiQDhBX9 on or before January 10,
2020. Communication regarding the completion of registration
(receiving of abstract and registration fee) shall be sent to the
author before January 15, 2020. The authors have to send the full
paper to the email id: [email protected] which should not exceed
5000 words (excluding footnotes) on or before February 10, 2020 to be
considered for publication as a special volume in the book with an
ISBN number.

Scholarship and Grants

From the full papers received on or before February 10, 2020,
selected papers will be presented in the plenary session.

Amongst the papers that will be presented in the plenary session, a
‘Best Paper Award’ and ‘Best Student Paper Award’ for Rs. 10,000 each
will be given.

Foreign delegates whose papers are selected for presentation will be
granted full/partial travel grant.
