It involves the developmental impact of the entrepreneur on his immediate society. Africapitalism is the middle ground between business and philanthropy (Elumelu 2014). It is an economic philosophy that embodies the private sector’s commitment to the economic transformation of Africa through investments that generate both economic prosperity and social wealth (Amaeshi & Idemudia 2015). The basic features of Africapitalism include: - Transforming private investment into social wealth (Elumelu 2014). - Promoting entrepreneurship. - Elements of social enterprise. - Local value creation. This involves an explicit effort on the part of businesses and African policymakers to facilitate more value addition within African economies to ensure more of the benefits of the continent’s natural resources remain in Africa.
