Due to the importance of the safety of our staff, students and
faculty members, and the international travel restrictions in place,
the Zoryan Institute has made the decision to host its annual
Genocide and Human Rights University Program (GHRUP) online from
August 2-13, 2021!

The GHRUP is an intensive, graduate-level program that explores the
fundamental issues relating to gross violations of human rights and
the prevention of genocide. An examination of several major cases of
genocide provides the foundation for comparative analysis, along with
the exploration of selected broad conceptual themes.

Using a seminar approach, the program provides a structured forum for
analyzing universal questions relating to human rights and their
gross violation. Students will gain an understanding of the following:

- The development and meaning of Human Rights and their relationship
  to genocide
- The background, sources, causes and effects of genocide
- How to recognize, define and predict genocide
- The social, economic and psychological impact on survivors and
  their descendants
- Destruction by attrition
- International law and genocide
- Methods and strategies to help prevent genocide

Registration for the 2021 online program is now open, and the Zoryan
Institute is accepting applications until May 31, 2021! Should you
