Job Announcement Type: Lecturer in World Philosophy Institution: School of History, Religions and Philosophies, SOAS University of London Location: London (United Kingdom) Deadline: 15.9.2021 __________________________________________________ About the role As Lecturer in World Philosophy, you will teach a variety of compulsory courses on the BA World Philosophies such as Metaphysics in Comparative Perspective, Introduction to Logic, Critical Reasoning and Argumentation, Introduction to Epistemology, Reading and Writing Philosophy. Comparative Ethics, Philosophy, Race, and Racism, and the Margins of Philosophy. Salary: £45,089 to £53,115 Per annum (Including London Allowance) Hours: Full Time (35 hours per week) Contract Type: Fixed Term – 1 Year Location: Bloomsbury, London (home based currently due to COVID-19) Your responsibilities will include: - Teaching the equivalent of 2.5 full modules (75 credits) on the BA World Philosophies programme. - Contributing to the administrative work of the Department. - Contributing to the research strength of the Department through publication and grant applications. You will need to demonstrate the following qualifications and skills: - A PhD degree in Philosophy or adjacent disciplines. - Expertise in the approaches of analytic and continental philosophy, - Demonstrable commitment to decolonisation, and - Knowledge of at least one non-Western philosophical tradition. - Experience in and dedication to high-quality classroom teaching at the BA level is essential, as are organisational and communication skills.
