Dear list-members,

Several subscribers ultimately reported problems with the readability
of InterPhil's digest version. After extensive testing I have to
confirm the folling:

1.
Digests with attached messages using Base64 transfer encoding are not
rendered correctly by Yahoo mail. Yahoo simply shows the Base64
content of the attached message instead of decoding it. Other mail
services seem to process the digest correctly.
For details see the corresponding bug report:
https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/issues/269

2.
Although InterPhil moved to a new list provider (JPBerlin) using a
current version of the list software Mailman, the problem persists
since it is outside our reference. In other words, as long as Yahoo
does not render correctly there won't be a solution for the issue.

3.
I am afraid to say that as Yahoo mail user you only have these
options:
- You can switch to InterPhil's non-digest version.
- You can subscribe with a mail address other than Yahoo.
- You could select plain text digests in your mailman options. I do
not recommend this since every non-7-bit character (like é, ä, ō, ß
etc.) will be shown as a question mark, resulting in a widely
unreadable text (in the case of non-English announcements).

I am sorry that we cannot offer a better solution for the moment
and apologise for any inconvenience this situation may cause.

Yours sicerecly,

Bertold Bernreuter
