Conference Announcement Theme: Theorising Solidarity Type: Online Workshop Institution: Centre for Contemporary Political Theory, University of Leeds Location: Online Date: 10.–11.2.2022 __________________________________________________ Our first research event of this term will be a workshop on Theorising Solidarity. Given Omicron, we reluctantly took the decision to move this online, so it will now be on the afternoons of Thurs 10th (1-5pm) and Fri 11th (1-4.30pm) Feb (UK time). The workshop is pre-read, i.e., papers will be pre-circulated and anyone attending is asked to read papers beforehand. There will be a very brief intro to each paper in the session, then comment from a discussant, then Q&A. We are keeping the workshop small to maximise discussion but have a few places available, so if you would like to attend, please let us know by 31st Jan and we will send you the zoom invite and papers, etc. Paper titles/speakers: ‘Intergenerational Solidarity and global justice’, Sally Scholz (Villanova) ‘Challenges to Solidarity’, Andrea Sangiovanni (KCL) ‘Rethinking Philosophy from the Excluded: Solidarity as Expression of Relationality and Transnational Practice of Critique’, Michael Reder (LMU) ‘People Over Principles: Solidarity and Environmental Justice’, Avery Kolers (Louisville) ‘Global Solidarity Beyond Anglocentrism: Meaningful Mobilisation Across Linguistic Borders’, Yael Peled (McGill) ‘Creating Racial Structural Solidarity: The Example of the George Floyd Protests’, Antoine Louette (Paris) ‘Deference as a practice of solidarity’ Kerri Woods and Josh Hobbs (Leeds) Contact: Dr Kerri Woods School of Politics and International Studies University of Leeds Leeds LS2 9JT United Kingdom Email: [email protected] __________________________________________________ InterPhil List Administration: https://interphil.polylog.org InterPhil List Archive: https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ __________________________________________________
