The Cross-Cultural Human Rights Review invites papers for
consideration for a special issue that examines the intersections
between racism and the right to development. The special issue will
examine racism and racial discrimination in the context of
conceptualizing, theorizing, and operationalizing the right to
development, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the 2030
Agenda. Anti-racism, non-discrimination, and equality of opportunity
for development are central pillars of the right to development
agenda. The Declaration on the Right to Development (DRTD) enjoins
states to take resolute steps to eliminate the violations of the
human rights of peoples affected by racism and racial discrimination.
The elimination of racism is recognized as essential to fulfilling
the right to development. However, both the right to development and
the issue of racism have been identified as two of the most
marginalized areas of human rights advocacy within the international
human rights system. This special issue will bring attention to these
intersections of marginality within the broader human rights movement.

We invite scholars and practitioners from across disciplines and
practice interested in addressing these questions to submit papers
for consideration for inclusion in the volume. We are seeking papers
that explore the following sub-topics:

- The Right to Development and the 2020 Agenda
- State Obligations, International Cooperation, and Global
  Partnerships
- The Role of Civil Society
- Racism, Exclusion and Development
- Poverty and Social Inequities
- The Right to Health: COVID-19 pandemic and Racialized Communities
- The Right to Education
- Policing and the administration of justice
- Affirmative Action, Quotas as remedy to systemic racism
- Data, Measurement and Accountability

Papers should be between 5,000-10,000 words and submitted by 30 June
2022.
