If you mean can a namespace include data stored on more than one physical volume, then the answer is yes. Using global mapping you can specify databases for different globals. Within a global, you can specify mapping based on subscripts. The default database is used for anything that is not explicitly mapped.
A database can be local or remote. Poke around in the configuration manager.
