Use either the GUI backup in Control Panel or ^BACKUP to do on-line backups
(don't need to shut Cache down) to a .cbk file then use your tape backup
software to backup the .cbk file.
If you have someone prepared to look at Cache Object script then another
option is to use ^DBACK to run in the background triggered by the System
Task manager e.g.
Set DESCR="Full backup"
Set MODE="NOINPUT"
Set TYPE="F" ; Full
Set SWJRN="N" ; or "Y"
Set File="H:\Backup\FullBackup_"_$ZD(+$H,8)
Do BACKUP^DBACK("", TYPE, DESCR, File_".cbk", "N", File_".log", MODE, "N",
SWJRN)
See DBACK source for more detail. I think it gets the list of databases to
backup from
^SYS("BACKUP","DIRECTORIES",...) which can be manipulated from the GUI
control panel, Backup, Database List but my memory is bit shaky here. Our
backups run unattended every night and I haven't looked at the program for
years until today.
Good luck
