Out Of String Space

I have a simple updated statement:

Update "Admin"."Call Accounting Records"
 set ArchiveName='Recordings-2004-08-31'
 WHERE DVRFileName='4021_20040301174118'

if I run it in VB, it goes but takes 10-12 seconds per statement, in Sql
manager I get "Out of string Space"

What is going on?
