"They deserve remission because of their good behavior while serving their sentence," Cipinang prison warden Samsul Hidaya said as quoted by kompas.com on Sunday. Recipients of Idul Fitri remission include former fishery minister Rohmin Dahuri, former Medan mayor Ramli Lubis and former Makassar mayor Andi B, who have had their jail terms reduced by one month each. Former Bank Indonesia governor Syahril Sabirin and former House of Representatives lawmaker Sarjan Taher did not receive remission as they have yet to serve one third of their sentence. The government has decided not to grant remission to convicts guilty of corruption, illegal logging, drug abuse, money laundering and transnational criminal cases until they have served at least one third of their prison sentence.
