Hundreds of communists have rallied in central Moscow ostensibly to protest a
rise in the price of utilties - but capitalizing on the occasion to knock the
free markets as a whole.

Several hundred communist supporters braved the freezing Moscow air Saturday as
they chanted "down with capitalist slavery" and "no to criminal theft," against
a backdrop of winter sunshine.

Dressed in fur hats and waving hammer-and-sickle flags, the communists were led
by Vladimir Kashin, deputy head of the Communist Party.

Russian inflation has been in the double digits in the post-90s period of
relative stability, though it has eased more recently to 8.8 percent in 2009.
