Indonesia 'invisible people' search for hope
Four million undocumented Indonesians live without access to schools, health
care or aid programs.

Around four million poor people in Indonesia do not receive any government
support because they lack proper identification papers. The Indonesian
government calls them "invisible people".

Many are poor farmers who migrate to the cities in search of a better living.
Without a proper address or formal job, however, they cannot acquire the KTP
Indonesian identity card.

A KTP card allows them to get free schooling for their children, free medical
services and enrollment in state poverty eradication programmes.

Without this piece of paper, they have little choice but to scrap out a living
from other people's trash.
