Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt will be in Jakarta from Tuesday to Thursday. (AFP Photo) Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt was expected to arrive in Jakarta late on Tuesday for a two-day Indonesian visit, the first made by a Swedish prime minister since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1952. The presidential office in Jakarta said on Tuesday that approximately 30 prominent business figures from Sweden would accompany Reinfeldt. Reinfeldt is scheduled on Wednesday to sit down for a bilateral meeting with Indonesia’s President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and attend a lunch banquet afterward. The prime minister is also set to deliver a keynote speech at a roundtable discussion themed “Indonesia – Sweden: Unlocking the Trade and Innovation Potential,” jointly organized by the Swedish Trade Council and the Swedish Embassy in Jakarta. “The bilateral meeting between the Indonesian president and the Swedish PM is set to discuss efforts to boost cooperation in priority sectors, including trade, investment and environment,” Indonesian presidential spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said on Tuesday. “The two heads of governments will also use the opportunity to discuss regional and global issues that are both of their concerns,” he added. A press statement from the Swedish Embassy in Jakarta says Reinfeldt is bringing along with him representatives from the Swedish banking industry and government agencies for innovation, entrepreneurship and export financing facilitation. The prime minister is slated to return to Sweden on Thursday, before which he will see Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo. “He plans to pay a visit to Monas [the National Monument] together with the newly elected Jakarta governor, Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, and present the Swedish urban management concept for sustainable cities,” the statement said. It adds that Swedish Trade Minister Ewa Bjorling is planning to meet with her Indonesian counterpart, Gita Wirjawan, on the sidelines of the visit. “Trade between the two countries has intensified and Swedish exports to Indonesia increased by an impressive 69 percent during the first eight months of 2012,” the statement said.
