Lawmakers blamed former Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Boediono for allowing the funds to go through, and some members of the House have planned to use their legislative right to express an opinion as a way to impeach the vice president. A spokesman for the vice president, Yopie Hidayat, said that Boediono firmly believed the decision to bail out the bank was necessary to save the country from joining the global financial turmoil of 2008. “Indonesians are enjoying the benefits of the policy that the vice president undertook, as Indonesia has been minimally effected by the financial crisis,” Yopie said.
