Experts say pollution is a serious threat to China's already limited water
supplies.

Beijing (CNN) -- When China's new leader Xi Jinping spoke to the media last
week, one sound bite struck me as especially noteworthy.

stable jobs, better medical care -- in short, "more comfortable living
conditions and a more beautiful environment."

shared by many Chinese.

mitigating the degradation of its environment and ecology, especially its air
and water.
