Shots were fired into a busway stop in Cawang on Sunday evening, the latest in
a string of incidents at bus stops over the past few months.

Sr. Comr. Rikwanto, a Jakarta police spokesman, said on Monday that damaged
glass was found at the busway stop on Sunday at around 7:35 p.m.

He added that there were no injuries and no one had been arrested.

Several witnesses, including TransJakarta officers, said before the
TransJakarta bus passed the stop there was a loud explosion. At the same time,
the glass on the left side of the station was shattered.

After investigating the site, Rikwanto said his team were unable to find a
missile.

“We are still carrying out investigations and have not found any missiles in
the surroundings," he said.

The incident will cost approximately Rp 2.5 million ($259).

Rikwanto suspected that the motive was to vandalize the area and not an act of
terror relating to Christmas celebrations.

"In the meantime, ground personnel are still investigating," he added.

In November, two busway stops along Jalan MT Haryono in South Jakarta were shot
at. There were no injuries but the perpetrators shot and shattered the glass
doors and windows.
