view of various members already expressed in this forum. In this
connection , let me narrate my bad experience with ICICI Bank. I had
purchased 100 NSC s of Rs.10.00 each in two online trading accounts
with ICICI Bank just for an experiment. Afterwards , considering their
abnormally high brokerage and poor service , I was forced to shift my
trading to Sharekhan Ltd. However, ICICI Bank refused to transfer NSCs
of Rs.1000 each purchased by me online through them to my accounts with
Sharekhan Ltd . Most shamefully , they continue to charge demat charges
of around Rs.500 each and service tax thereon in each account every
year just for holding of Rs.1000 each . Even though the said NSCs were
purchased online through them , they advised me to contact the
concerned Post Office in Mumbai for this purpose , which was not
practicable. The said demat charge is despite the guidelines of NSDL
that no charge should be levied in holdings of NSC and such holding
must be kept separate from other holdings, if any. I am yet to get a
positive action from ICICI Bank , since they enjoy hefty Demat charges
every year. I request all the affected members to form a specific forum
for this purpose and approach appropriate authorities for redressal of
our grievances. CHIRAMEL MATHEW SIMON On 18/08/2008, babu subramanian
