Turmeric contracts traded down on reports of weak offtake in the spot
markets by the north Indian buyers. Rising arrivals of the new crop
coupled with low buying weighed on turmeric prices. Report of huge
stocks with the growers is also adding bearish cues to the market
sentiments. The stocks are projected to be higher for the year due to
better output and higher acreage. However, the demand is expected to
improve in upcoming days due to arrival of quality crop. As per
market source, turmeric arrivals in Erode and Nizamabad were around
19000 bags and 10000 bags. The finger variety fetched Rs.3600 in Erode
and Rs.4600 per 100kg in Nizamabad.

The spot market in Nizamabad will remain closed for Holi from
Wednesday-Sunday.
