For what it's worth, I wrote a GUI version of IOIODude for upgrading 
firmware, feel free to try here http://ledpixelart.com/ioiodudegui/ , have 
versions for Mac OSX , Windows, and  a JAR for Linux although I never 
tested on Linux.
