And at least a zillion lusers all expecting the breakage, being totally
baffled and coming to complaint to _me_ when "Ion is broken" because it
isn't loading Gnome's settings; it is not starting gnome-settings-daemon
or some such poorly reinvented wheel, as they've never configured anything
the Unix/X way, instead expecting Gnome to fuck up everything, such as
loading xterm colours into Xt resource database from its settings,
instead of storing them in .Xresources or such.
