That sounds almost scary... I will not try to imagine how that really
works... I use only one head, and try to keep it switched on all the time

That said, and as a personal note: I use two monitors at work, and don't
think it is because some "techno-toy fetishism", but rather because it
significantly eases my work. But I concur that Xinerama adds a lot of
complexity and hacks where the only thing you might want is to drag a
window from one screen to the other. But I can live very well without
that, and I make use of no Xinerama (even if I'd not be running ion3,
which incidentall, I find an excellent WM suiting all my needs - thanks
